What started as a mere fascination grew into an insatiable hunger, eventually blossoming into a profound commitment. This industry, responsible for installing, maintaining, and operating underwater fiber optic cables, forms the backbone of global communication, connecting continents and enabling the seamless transmission of data across vast distances beneath the ocean's surface. 

Anjali Sugadev 

Anjali emerges as a formidable force in the realm of international law and policy. She brings over 10 years of cumulative experience across various sectors, including law firms, research institutes, government bodies, and international organizations. Her journey is punctuated by academic achievements, papers presented at international conferences and publications in esteemed peer-reviewed journals and books. Notably, Anjali's dedication to her craft earned her prestigious accolades such as the ICPC Rhodes Academy Submarine Cables Writing Award, receiving top honors during her academic journey and earning ten gold medals. Her practical experience in commercial transactions and compliance further underscores her academic excellence and expertise, making her an asset in navigating the complexities of the subsea industry. 

Jeffrey Joju 

Jeffrey is known for his versatility, with academic roots in Visual Communication and Animation. His experience in User Experience (UX) design sparked a newfound passion for optimizing user and customer interactions. Throughout his educational and professional journey, Jeffrey has championed essential skills such as attention to detail, problem-solving, and self-learning. He brings substantive leadership and project management experience from his previous roles. Jeffrey's dynamic approach to learning, creative mindset, proactive attitude, and adeptness at finding innovative solutions is of value to the subsea industry.

The Genesis of OceanJuris 

After Anjali’s introduction to the industry, Jeffrey was naturally attracted to it where they both found inspiration and purpose. Envisioning the intricate web of subsea cables as the lifelines of global connectivity, they were drawn to the industry's transformative potential.  

In Jeffrey’s words, “Think about it this way – at home, your LAN cable makes the Internet faster than your WIFI, no matter the distance from your router to laptop. Roughly put, it is the same logic on a global scale with the cables connecting points around the world. Hundreds of kilometers of submarine cable that lay at the ocean bed connects continents and all the islands out there.” 

Jeffrey fancies the evolution of this industry as “something that started as a simple wire between two tin cans about four centuries ago has in some way or the other paved the way for the revolutionary thought of laying the first subsea cable across the vast expanse of the ocean. Fast forward to the present, these cables maintain the economic, financial, and social stability of the world. Future technologies will connect the world further and make it smaller. Upcoming innovations will bear fruit, that will hang strong from the branches of the Internet tree with its roots in the undersea cables. 

Anjali has always been passionate about the ocean and that has transferred her interest into wanting to be an integral part of the industry and make an impact in the world’s oceans. Anjali’s expertise and experience complimenting Jeffrey’s adeptness and strategy has brought to life OceanJuris — a testament to their shared vision of shaping the future of the subsea sector.
